Where language meets destination
You`re learning Japanese, now what? Well, I am sure a lot of you guys are planning on traveling to Japan soon, or have already traveled. For those who have yet to travel to Japan, how is it like in Japan? What do you need to know? Well, here it is. Some info on destination Japan:)
How long is an ideal trip to Japan?
~10~14 days
When to visit:
The best time to visit Japan is generally considered to be during spring(March to May) when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, or autumn (September to November) when the leaves change color. However, these periods can be very crowded with tourists.
・Spring (March~May):
Cherry blossom season, mild weather, great for sightseeing, but crowded
・Summer (June~August):
Hot and humid, good for hiking in the mountains. Many summer festivals.
・Autumn (September~November):
Stunning fall foliage, comfortable temperatures, and fewer crowd than spring.
・Winter (December~February):
Skiing opportunities in northern Japan, New Year celebrations.
Attire through the seasons:
・Spring:
Light jacket, soft pants and tops should keep you comfortable and breezy. Temperatures average between 40F to 55F.
・Summer:
Light fabrices, pretty blouses, breezy skirts, and a sun hat. Temperatures average between 65F to 80F.
・Fall:
Pack for any weather: comfortable pants, skirts, blouses and sweaters. A rain jacket would be good. Temperatures average between 55F to 65F.
・Winter:
Be sure to layer! Sweaters and a jacket, or coat. Plus hats and gloves if you feel like you need them. Temperatures average between 25F to 35F.
Top destinations in Japan:
Tokyo: This is the capital of Japan, and offers a variety of experiences including nightlife, upscale shopping, and cultural attractions.
Kyoto: showcases traditional Japanese culture and architecture
Osaka: This city has a great food scene. It is located in a central location with a harbor.
Yakushima: A small island with primeval forests. The landscape is said to have inspired the Studio Ghibli film Princess Mononoke.
